Dr. Laurel Boyd
Owner, Doctor of Physical Therapy
Laurel grew up in Austin, Texas playing soccer competitively until she went on to play at the collegiate level at the University of Texas at Tyler.
While studying kinesiology at UT Tyler, she developed a passion for sports, health, and fitness. After graduating with her B.S. in kinesiology, she went to physical therapy school at Texas State University.
After receiving her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, she specialized in manual therapy and now works primarily in sports and orthopedics.
Laurel is a strong believer in combining manual techniques with specific exercise to correct movement impairments and imbalances. Laurel helps clients get back to what they love, whether it's back to regular workouts or back to the game.
When she isn’t busy treating, Laurel enjoys playing soccer, running, lifting weights, and hanging out with her husband and 2 cats, Louie and Toledo.

Dr. Justin "Trax" Traxler
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Trax grew up playing competitive football, soccer and baseball but pursued pitching at Concordia University Texas where he achieved Pitcher of the Year, Regional Rookie of the year and was a 4x All American.
Trax studied in Kinesiology which allowed him to develop a passion for strength training, nutrition, and recovery/rehabilitation.
He then went on to obtain his doctorate from University of the Incarnate Word and pursued a career focused on active adults, sports performance, and post-surgical rehabilitation with an emphasis on Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction (ACL).
Justin focuses on building a plan of care that will get you back to the activities you love through use of manual therapy and progressive exercise prescription.
When he is not in the clinic, he enjoys strength training, hiking with his wife and daughter, and playing competitive Softball with his brothers.

Dr. Emily Van Hoeck
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Emily grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a competitive cheerleader.
Emily made the move to Texas to complete her undergraduate degree at Baylor University and Doctorate degree at Texas State University.
She loves to dig deep into biomechanics and movement impairments to ensure your symptoms are fixed from the ground up and resolved for good!
She is certified in Dry Needling and Running Gait Analysis. She has also received mentorship related to postural restoration.
Emily enjoys strength training, yoga, HIIT cardio, and pilates to maintain a balanced routine for both mind and body.
When relaxing, Emily enjoys reading, cooking, and being outside with her husband and dog.Fun fact: Emily is a Twin

Laurel started Athletes’ Edge Physical Therapy to provide a better experience for patients than the typical run of the mill clinics. She believes in one-on-one treatment because it typically results in faster and better improvements. At Athletes’ Edge, every individual receives a 1 hour, one-on-one session with our PT.
